Pocket Leadz vs BrokerEngine for Mortgage Broker Leads
If your problem is the deal, from fact find to lodgement to settlement, BrokerEngine is the better tool and Pocket Leadz does not try to replace it. If your problem is the lead, getting back to every Facebook, website and referral enquiry within seconds, chasing the ones who go quiet and getting them booked in, Pocket Leadz was built for exactly that, by a working broker who used BrokerEngine in his own business and wanted better lead handling than it gave him. Plenty of brokers will be best served by both.

Pocket Leadz publishes this page, so read it knowing that. We have tried to be fair: every statement about BrokerEngine links to the page we found it on, and the places where BrokerEngine is the better choice are set out as plainly as the places where we are. Prices and features last checked 30 October 2026. See how comparisons are researched and the Pocket Leadz facts page.
Who each one is for
BrokerEngine
Australian broking firms that want one system for the whole deal: Broker Wizard to package applications, the FinanceVault portal to collect documents, loan scenarios and strategy reports, Best Interests Duty tools, deal checklists, loan maintenance workflows, and links to aggregator platforms, including direct ApplyOnline lodgement for AFG brokers on BrokerEngine Plus. It launched in 2015 and says it serves more than 3,000 mortgage professionals.
Pocket Leadz
Brokers whose leads come from their own Facebook and Instagram ads, a website form, a link in bio page or referrers, and who lose some of them in the gap between the enquiry and the first conversation. Pocket Leadz answers each one by text and email within seconds, rings the broker's phone, books them in and keeps following up until they reply. It has no fact find, document portal, lodgement, BID notes or loan maintenance, and is not trying to.
Why this comparison exists
Pocket Leadz was built by a working mortgage broker for his own business. He ran BrokerEngine, and what he wanted more of was on the lead side: the minutes after a Facebook enquiry lands, the broker who is in an appointment when it does, and the enquiry from last month who never booked. Pocket Leadz is what he built for that.
So this page is not neutral about lead handling, and it says so. It is just as clear about where BrokerEngine is the better tool, because on everything after the client says yes, it does far more.
How each one handles a new enquiry
In BrokerEngine
BrokerEngine keeps leads on their own board, separate from active deals. Enquiries from your website or referrers come straight in, automated sequences keep them warm, an email or text can go out automatically if someone does not book in, and leads can be shared with the team. Workflows start when a card moves into a stage with a published workflow, and BrokerEngine comes with default workflows you can customise. Texts send through a touchSMS account you connect and load with credits; BrokerEngine notes that new integrations may need to be enabled for your group. For Facebook lead ads, the route we found is Zapier templates that create a BrokerEngine card for each new lead.
In Pocket Leadz
You connect your Facebook Page directly, with no Zapier. Each lead form's name becomes the lead's tag and picks its flow, so a Self Employed form gets the self-employed messages and a First Home Buyer form gets theirs. If a name does not match, you get a notification and choose the flow yourself.
The first text and email go out within seconds of the lead landing, inside the hours you set and in the lead's own time zone, and the owner's phone gets a push. The flow carries on with texts, emails and call tasks, and stops by itself when the lead replies, books a time or is moved to the column you mark as the end of the chase. Australian texts can go through Mobile Message, which handles the Australian sender registration, or through Twilio.
Both can send something automatically. The differences are in what surrounds it: the direct Facebook connection, the flow chosen by the form, the phone alert, the booking page, and what happens when someone enquires twice.
Routing, ownership and repeat enquiries
On the Team plan, Pocket Leadz rotates new leads between brokers. A new enquiry from a phone number or email already on the board is folded into the existing card and stays with the broker who owns it. If that broker is already talking to the person, or they are an existing client, nothing automatic is sent and the broker gets an alert instead. Assistant logins can work every lead and are never handed one of their own.
BrokerEngine's strength here is the deal team: custom team roles such as credit analyst, loan processor and settlement officer, with tasks allocated to them automatically, and permissions over who sees and edits what. We did not find lead rotation between brokers described on the pages we read, so ask in a demo if you need it.
Getting them booked in
Pocket Leadz has a booking page with booking types, each with its own length, questions and hours, synced both ways with Google or Outlook so outside appointments block your times. A booking from someone already on the board goes to the broker who owns them, and reminders go out by text and email.
BrokerEngine's SMS page shows booking confirmation and reminder texts sent from workflows. Its feature list does not describe a public booking page, and its own knowledge base covers connecting Calendly through Zapier, so if you use a separate scheduler today, that is likely to stay the same.
Where client data is held
BrokerEngine lists Australia-based hosting. Pocket Leadz stores its data with Supabase in a United States region. If your licensee or your privacy policy requires client information to stay in Australia, check with them before you put leads into Pocket Leadz.
Side by side
BrokerEngine's column is taken from the sources at the foot of this page. Where we could not confirm something on BrokerEngine's own pages, the cell says so rather than guessing.

Where BrokerEngine is the better choice
- You need the deal side: fact find, document collection, product scenarios, strategy reports, BID notes and lodgement.
- You are an AFG broker who wants direct ApplyOnline lodgement through BrokerEngine Plus.
- Your licensee or privacy policy needs client data held in Australia.
- You want proactive loan reviews, maintenance workflows and client segmentation by lender, rate and settlement date.
- You run a support team of credit analysts, processors and settlement officers who need tasks allocated by role.
Where Pocket Leadz is the better choice
- Facebook and Instagram ads are a big source of your leads, and you want them in without Zapier.
- You want follow up by text and email that starts the moment a lead lands and picks its messages by the form they filled in.
- You have a few brokers and want leads rotated between them, with repeat enquiries going back to the broker who already knows the client.
- You want a booking page synced with Google or Outlook and a phone alert for every new lead.
- You only need lead management, and a full broker operating system per broker is more software than that one job needs.
Using both
For a growing brokerage this is the set-up we would suggest: Pocket Leadz takes the enquiry, answers it, chases it and books the first appointment, and the deal moves into BrokerEngine for the fact find, documents and lodgement. One limit to know: today Pocket Leadz sends a lead out through its Zapier or Make connection when the lead arrives, not when they are ready to proceed. So either let every lead land in both, with BrokerEngine's lead workflows switched off so nobody gets two welcome texts, or add the client to BrokerEngine by hand at the fact find. BrokerEngine's Zapier app can create cards. We have not run that exact connection end to end, so test it with a dummy lead first.
What it costs
BrokerEngine prices are from its pricing page on 30 October 2026, in Australian dollars including GST, paid monthly. Both are cheaper paid yearly. Pocket Leadz prices are in US dollars, as shown at checkout.
- Pocket Leadz Solo: US$79 a month. One broker plus one assistant login.
- Pocket Leadz Team: US$249 a month. Five full seats, extra full seats US$39 a month, assistant seats US$19 a month, round robin, up to 5 businesses from one login.
- BrokerEngine (all aggregators): $163.90 per broker a month, $108.90 per support user ($136.58 and $90.75 a month paid yearly).
- BrokerEngine Plus, lodgement-enabled for AFG: $220 per broker a month, $143 per support user ($184 and $120 paid yearly). This is a bundled Suite360 fee that also covers AFG's Flex platform.
- BrokerEngine Kickstart onboarding: $1,000 + GST per broker group.
These are not like-for-like. BrokerEngine's price covers the whole deal; Pocket Leadz covers the lead. If you would keep BrokerEngine for the deal side anyway, the useful question is whether Pocket Leadz on top is worth it for the leads it saves, not which one is cheaper. On both sides, texts are paid to the SMS provider you connect.
Common questions
Can Pocket Leadz replace BrokerEngine?
For lead management, yes: that is what it was built to do better. For anything after the client decides to proceed, no. There is no fact find, document portal, loan scenarios, BID notes, lodgement or loan maintenance in Pocket Leadz.
Does Pocket Leadz work with my aggregator?
There is no aggregator connection. Pocket Leadz sits before the aggregator platform, at the enquiry. BrokerEngine says it works alongside any Australian aggregator, with dedicated pages for AFG, Connective, Finsure and LMG.
Is automated texting and calling allowed in Australia?
Both products help, neither decides it for you. Commercial texts and emails need consent and a way to unsubscribe under the Spam Act, and calls are covered by the Do Not Call Register rules. Pocket Leadz honours STOP replies for good, only texts inside the hours you set in the lead's own time, and limits its optional automatic callback to weekdays until 8pm and Saturdays until 5pm, never a Sunday, in the lead's time. Check your own consent wording with your licensee.
