Pocket Leadz vs Follow Up Boss for Real Estate Leads
Follow Up Boss is the better pick if you want one mature CRM for a whole real estate team, with calling, call recording, team reporting and texting registration done for you. Pocket Leadz is the better pick if most of your leads come from your own Facebook or Instagram ads, a website form or a link in bio page, and you want each one texted, emailed and routed within seconds by a flow that is already written. Pocket Leadz can also sit in front of a CRM you already use.

Who each one is for
Follow Up Boss
Real estate agents and teams who want one CRM to hold every lead, call and deal, with connections to most lead sources and websites, team reporting, and calling built in on the Pro and Platform plans. Follow Up Boss is owned by Zillow Group.
Pocket Leadz
Agents who bring in their own leads, mostly from Facebook and Instagram lead ads, a website form or a link in bio page, and lose some of them because nobody answers fast enough. Pocket Leadz answers every new lead by text and email within seconds, rings the agent's phone, and keeps following up until the lead replies or books a time. It is not an IDX website, a transaction system or a brokerage CRM.
What happens in the first minute
This is where the two products differ most, so it is worth walking through.
In Follow Up Boss
Follow Up Boss has a direct Facebook Lead Ad connection, so a lead from your form lands in the CRM without Zapier, tagged with the page and form name. What happens next depends on your setup. Lead Flow rules, which an admin can build on those tags, decide which agent gets the lead and which action plan it starts, and the first text is one you compose or pick from your text templates. Follow up itself runs on Action Plans, which its pricing page lists on every plan, and an admin ties them to lead sources. Done well, it then runs on its own, and agents get a push notification when a lead is assigned to them.
In Pocket Leadz
You connect your Facebook Page, and for each lead form Pocket Leadz reads the form's name and gives its leads the matching tag and flow. A form called Sellers gets the seller flow and a form called First Time Buyers gets that one. If a name does not match anything, you get a notification and pick the flow yourself. Each account starts with a flow already written for real estate leads, which you read, put into your own words and switch on.
When a lead lands, the first text and email go out within seconds, inside the texting hours you set and in the lead's own time zone, and the owner's phone gets a push. The flow carries on with texts, emails and call tasks, and stops by itself when the lead replies, books a time, or reaches the column you marked as the end of the chase.
So the honest difference is not that one follows up and the other does not. Both do. It is how much you build before the first lead arrives, and how closely the first messages match the ad the person answered.
When the same person inquires again
In Pocket Leadz, a new inquiry from a phone number or email already on your board is folded into the existing card and stays with the agent who owns it. If that agent is already talking to the person, or they are a past client, nothing automatic is sent and the agent gets an alert instead, so a past client does not get a stranger's welcome text.
Follow Up Boss also matches a repeat inquiry to the existing contact, keeps it with the agent it already belongs to, and does not rerun the new-lead flow; you can set an automation on its new inquiry trigger instead. On this point the two behave much alike.
Getting texting switched on
Follow Up Boss registers your business for US business texting (known as A2P 10DLC) using a form inside the product. Pocket Leadz does not. You open your own Twilio account, and a walkthrough inside Pocket Leadz takes you through buying a number and registering your business. The carriers decide on approval, and it normally takes several days.
Until texting is approved, email, phone alerts, the pipeline and booking all work in Pocket Leadz, but texts do not send. If you want the least work on the texting side, Follow Up Boss is ahead here.

Where Follow Up Boss is the better choice
- You run a team and want calling, call recording, team inboxes and reporting inside the CRM itself.
- Your leads come from many places, including portals and lead providers, and you want them all in one system that is built to connect to them.
- You want US texting registration done for you rather than through your own Twilio account.
- On price alone for one person, Grow starts lower ($69 against $79 a month) before you add calling.
- Your team already runs on it. Moving everyone for faster follow up is rarely worth it; adding a front end for your own ad leads may be.
Where Pocket Leadz is the better choice
- You run different Facebook or Instagram lead ads for different people. In Pocket Leadz the form's name picks the flow by itself; in Follow Up Boss an admin builds Lead Flow rules on the form-name tag to do the same.
- You want follow up already written that you read and switch on, rather than building Action Plans and Lead Flow rules first.
- A team of three to five: Team is $249 a month with five seats, where five Grow users before calling is $345 a month.
- You want a link in bio page and a public booking page in the same place your leads land.
Using both
If your team lives in Follow Up Boss, you do not have to move. Pocket Leadz can answer and chase the leads from your own ads and pages, and send each new lead on through its Zapier or Make connection as it arrives. Follow Up Boss's pricing page says it connects any lead source, so ask them which route they recommend for leads coming from another tool. We have not tested that hand-off end to end. Set it up with a test lead first, and make sure only one of the two is texting the lead, or they will hear from both.
What it costs
List prices on each vendor's own pricing page on October 30, 2026, per month and before tax. Both charge less if you pay for a year up front.
- Pocket Leadz Solo: $79 a month ($790 a year). You plus one assistant login, two pipeline boards.
- Pocket Leadz Team: $249 a month ($2,490 a year). Five full seats, extra full seats $39 a month, assistant seats $19 a month, up to 10 boards, round robin routing, up to 5 businesses from one login.
- Follow Up Boss Grow: $69 a month per user. Calling is $39 a month per user more.
- Follow Up Boss Pro: $499 a month with 10 users included, extra users $49 a month, calling included.
- Follow Up Boss Platform: $1,000 a month with 30 users included, extra users $20 a month, calling included.
On the Pocket Leadz side, add your Twilio bill for a phone number and texts, and a Resend plan if you send a lot of email from your own domain. Both are paid to those companies at their rates, with nothing added by Pocket Leadz. Email through a connected Gmail or Outlook account costs nothing extra within the daily limits Google and Microsoft set. Follow Up Boss lists texting as included on its plans, with calling extra on Grow, so for a fair total put your own Twilio estimate beside its price.
Common questions
Can Pocket Leadz replace Follow Up Boss?
For an agent whose leads mostly come from their own ads and pages, it can do the lead side: capture, routing, texts, emails, booking and the pipeline. It does not replace call recording, Follow Up Boss's range of lead source connections, or its team reporting. If you rely on those, keep Follow Up Boss and decide whether a front end for your own ad leads is worth adding.
Does Pocket Leadz connect to Zillow or other portals?
There is no direct portal connection. Leads come in through the Facebook connection, a website form, the Zapier or Make connection, a link in bio page or a spreadsheet import. If portal leads are most of your business, a CRM with direct portal connections will suit you better.
Is automated texting legal?
No software makes texting legal on its own. Pocket Leadz records the text consent from your Facebook form's consent checkbox, honors STOP replies for good, and only sends automatic texts inside the hours you set in the lead's own time zone. Whether you hold the consent the law needs depends on your forms, your state and how you got the lead. Ask your broker's compliance contact or a lawyer.
How long does Pocket Leadz take to set up?
Connecting Facebook and your email takes minutes. Texting takes longer, because US carriers must approve your business first, which normally takes several days and is their decision. Annual plans include a 20 minute set-up call with the founder where we connect your lead form and switch on your follow up with you.
